Robbie Williams is quitting LA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- British singer, Robbie Williams, is reportedly is leaving Los Angeles to return to Britain to be with his best pal, Jonathan Wilkes. The Take That singer, who has been staying in the US for the past five years, will move into an apartment with Wilkes, his wife and their one-year -old son. The 33-year-old is at the lowest point of his career, for he finished his stint in rehab for prescription drug addiction and his latest album, Rudebox, was criticised by many as a poor attempt. It seems that Wilkes has already seen several houses in Chiswick in west London, which is very close to TV stars Ant and Dec's homes. The rehabbed singer is looking forward to playing football games with his new neighbours. A close pal said that the singer is coming close to his family, so that he could cope up with the recent failures. "Robbie is coming home to be close to the people who love hi," the friend said," News of the World quoted the pal, as saying. "He wants to have some fun with his friends and concentrate on getting rid of his demons. Some of the best days were back when he lived with Jonathan in their bachelor pad together. He's looking forward to a life of golf and football for a while and being with his mates and family," the pal added. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ROBBIE WILLIAMS could have said Somethin' Stupid by asking NICOLE KIDMAN to join him in the recording studio again. They took the Nancy Sinatra hit to Christmas No1 in 2001 - and were rumoured to have enjoyed a brief fling. Now Robbie, 33, wants the Aussie actress, 39, to appear on new album Swinging 2. But Nicole's hubby KEITH URBAN, 39, isn't exactly thrilled by the idea. A source said: "Robbie has kept in touch with Nicole and considers her one of the classier ladies he's had the pleasure of knowing. "He thought it would be a great idea to work with her again on a song for his new album. "But Keith is far from happy so it remains to be seen whether Robbie gets his wish!" As part of the six-figure deal, the company plans to set up a music school at Vale Park to provide instruments, equipment and tuition for children. The initial 12-month-deal includes an option for a second season. The total shirt sponsorship package - which includes a promotion clause - would beat the £100,000 deal Vale struck with Burslem firm BGC last season. Sennheiser have been impressed by Vale's work with the community and are keen to set up the music school to extend their own record of developing young talent. Sennheiser supports scholarships at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, the school founded by Sir Paul McCartney, and the National Film and Television School at Beaconsfield. John Steven, director of marketing for Sennheiser UK, said: "We were looking to go into football sponsorship and the community set-up at Port Vale seemed right for us. "We were impressed by how the club engages with the local community and that is a philosophy we like to be associated with." Vale chairman Bill Bratt added: "We are delighted a major global name will be on our shirts next season - it will help raise the club's profile. "As well as the financial support, we are particularly pleased that Sennheiser is becoming involved with our community programme. "The music school is a fantastic idea and would be another string to our bow. "Who knows, the school may produce another Burslem pop superstar to rock the world." The winner will be announced at a star-studded ceremony in London next Monday. Meanwhile, every day this week we are showcasing one of the finalists — Julie Andrews, Paul McCartney, the Queen, Margaret Thatcher and Robbie Williams — with their supporters saying why their hero should win the contest, sponsored by Marks & Spencer. We begin today with singer Robbie, ex-patron of the charity Jeans For Genes, which funds research into genetic disorders affecting children. Six-year-old Rhys Evans suffers from a severe immune deficiency and relies on cash from the charity to improve his quality of life. His mother Marie, a 36-year-old teacher, of Caerphilly, South Wales, says: There’s a very special reason why Robbie should be voted Greatest Living Briton and it is not just because he writes great pop songs. His support has helped to give our little boy a future. Rhys was born in 2000 with a condition called X-SCID, which meant his body couldn’t fight infection. It’s often called ‘boy in the bubble syndrome’ because that’s sort of how he had to live. We’ve got photos of him in his bouncing chair in hospital, sat beneath a plastic cover to keep his environment sterile and free from germs. But even in isolation he still managed to pick up infections and he was so poorly that at times we weren’t sure he would survive. Robbie did so much to encourage people to take part in Jeans For Genes Day and, in doing so, raised money for life-saving treatment. He’s made such a difference to our family and thousands of others that the charity helps to support. With Robbie’s help, Jeans For Genes funded the development of gene therapy at Great Ormond Street Hospital and this is what transformed Rhys’s life. He was the first child in the country to have the treatment, which re-educated his body and taught it how to create white blood cells. Rhys is now doing really well at school — something we feared we might never see. We love to listen to Robbie’s CDs at home, not just because the songs are great but because they remind us of how he’s helped to change our lives. Courageous Rhys adds: “I’d like to meet Robbie and say hello. “We went to a fashion show in a big hotel in London where there were lots of famous people showing off their jeans. “Robbie had given some jeans to the charity that they could sell and raise money to help other children like me. “I met another little boy who had had the same treatment as me. “Robbie is the best because he’s helped to make me better and he’s helped lots of other children too — and his songs are great!” Commenta data: 15.05.2007 fonte: www.thesun.uk HERE ARE YOUR FIVE LIVE GREATS... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE nation is about to decide who among us is the Greatest Living Briton. Over the last week, Sun readers have been voting in their thousands for their heroes and heroines via phone and internet. Now the polls have closed — and the votes of our readers have been used to whittle down an original list of 50 candidates to just five remarkable finalists. The outstanding individuals on the shortlist chosen by you will now go forward to a glitzy grand final to be screened on ITV1 on Monday, May 21. The winner will represent just one of the categories in the Greatest Briton 2007 event, backed by The Sun. The star-studded show, sponsored by Marks & Spencer, will be fronted by stunning X Factor babe Kate Thornton. It will also feature a string of other categories including Film, Television, the Arts, Business, Sport, Social Responsibility and Fashion. Each day next week, in the run-up to the grand final, we will print an appeal by a fan of each of the final Greatest Living Briton candidates. Here we reveal the final five Britons who will be battling it out live on telly for the top honour. Julie Andrews Paul McCartney The Queen Margaret Thatcher Robbie Williams: THE former Take That star has won 15 Brit awards and has been nominated for Grammys for his music videos. His career kicked off in 1990 with boy band Take That, which he left in 1995 after they had sold 25million records. Since then, 33-year-old Robbie has sold more albums in Britain than any other solo artist. The self-made star is still the best-selling male artist in the world, with album sales of more than 53million. He is a tireless worker on behalf of charities, both in his home town of Stoke and around the world. Significant investment from the club, a £2.25 million loan from Stoke-on-Trent City Council and grants from Advantage West Midlands are funding the makeover. The transformation of the Lorne Street end of the ground was started seven years ago by the club's previous owner Bill Bell, but it has been a stop-start process. Construction is currently split into several key elements. On the ground floor, work is underway on a new children's centre to be run by the city council - with a completion date of March next year. When fans return to Burslem for the Valiants' first home game this August, 12 additional corporate boxes will have been added to the first floor of the stand - available for hire for between £5,000 and £7,500 a season. At the rear of these will be an enterprise centre comprising as many as 21 starter units for fledgling businesses. The third floor will be dominated by the Robbie Williams Suite - a function room seating up to 300 which will also serve meals on match days. Club chairman Bill Bratt said he was excited about the plans which would transform Vale Park into a "true community stadium". He said: "It's no secret that on the field this season things haven't gone as well as we would have hoped. "However, off the field, the board is quite pleased at how the stadium is developing. It's a case of creep and go - we won't spend money that we don't have or do anything that puts the future of the club in jeopardy. Both the children's centre and business starter units are, we believe, football club firsts. Having both businesses and a community facility on-site will add to the family feel of Port Vale." Mr Bratt said the Vale's pop star major shareholder agreeing to put his name to a facility at the club was another big boost. He said: "The function suite won't, unfortunately, be completed by the start of the new season, but obviously having Robbie's support as we seek sponsorship is a huge bonus for us. "He is a genuine Port Vale supporter and the club has a very good dialogue with him. "We would ultimately like to theme the function suite to include memorabilia from some of Robbie's tours. We are even hopeful that we can get Robbie down to officially open the suite. "He does everything he can to support us." Commenta data: 12.05.2007 grazie a pazzaxrobbiewilliams per la news WILLIAMS TO MAKE HIP-HOP ALBUM ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ROBBIE WILLIAMS risks alienating his fan base with his forthcoming album - he's reinventing himself as a hip-hop star. Rising producer Mark Ronson recently played Williams some bluegrass songs, which he claims has inspired the singer to turn to a new musical direction. Ronson says, "I used to be obsessed with the O Brother Where Art Thou? soundtrack, and I went down to New Orleans and stalked the guy who'd done the record - Chris Thomas King. "I played Robbie one of his songs called Gaslight, because Robbie wants to make a bluegrass/hip hop record now." Williams' last album Rudebox was a critical and commercial disappointment. Commenta data: 10.05.2007 grazie a ENZA per la news MTV Hits: 7 corti per Robbie Williams ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In onda sul canale satellitare Mtv Hits i cortometraggi voluti da Williams per promuovere giovani registi e unire il cinema alla musica. C'è anche l'italiano The 80’s. Il cortometraggio è liberamente ispirato alla canzone Goodbye to the normals contenuta in Rudebox e dura 4 minuti. Goodbye to the Normals è stato scritto da George Kay, diretto da Jim Field Smith, e prodotto da Julies Hussey in collaborazione con Idiot Lamp.
